Holiday Parties: Formal Wear

Mr. Fantastic and I have the opportunity to attend formal events about 3 to 4 times a year.  It used to be more than that, but due to the economy, a number of organizations are cutting back.  That said, I love dressing up!

I am Wearing:

Dress: BCBG Max Azria
Clutch: Aldo (old)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Scissor Girl
Earrings: Filthy Rich (defunct boutique in Allen)
Rings: Wedding Set (gift from Mr. Fantastic) and Nordstrom Rack

I try to keep an eye out for gowns throughout the year, so that I am never in a panic over a dress that may or may not fit at the last minute.  Furthermore, by buying off-season, I also diminish the risk of seeing anyone else in my dress at most events.  This dress by BCBG Max Azria was very popular in 2008.  In fact, I bought it during the spring of 2009 to wear as my wedding gown for our beach wedding.  My mom took one look at it and declared that it was NOT a wedding dress so I ended up with a very classic wedding dress.  I have to admit that I am glad it worked out that way because I loved my wedding dress and I was much happier with the end result.
This year I wore the BCBG Max Azria gown to our annual charity ball and I am very happy to report that I did not see a single person wearing this dress, but me! It definitely pays off to buy and store.  In fact, I didn't have to purchase anything for this year's ball as I already owned everything.  These earrings were purchased a couple of years ago at the now defunct Filthy Rich boutique here in Allen.  They specialized in celebrity jewelry replicas.  I have no idea what these were a replica of, but I lost one during the ball.  I wasn't too sad since they cost me less than $20.
The clutch is from Aldo and you can't tell by these photos, but it was the same color as the underside of the sash on my dress.  I love the pleats on the bag and it also has a chain in case you don't want to carry it in your hands all night.  You can't see the shoes, but I wore the same bronze Christian Louboutin pumps that I wore for my night at the museum a few weeks back.  No matter how comfortable I think my heels are, I always end up in flats by the end of the night.

Happy December, people! Also, my birthday is coming up in three weeks!

  1. Thank you! I didn't make him take any outfit photos so I was scrambling to edit everyone else out of the photos I am in!
