366 Project - 2012

This year, I want to really improve my photography skills.  I am going to try to take a photo via any means at least once a day.  I hope this gives me an opportunity to play with all the ways that I am able to update my blog as well. Because I tend to start off strong and go downhill, I am allowing myself to count any and all pics for my challenge including Twitpics, Instagram, iPhone, and my camera photos.

These were taken on the appropriate day, but I didn't know how I was going to track my progress.  Here goes:

I am AMAZED and relieved that this project has come to a close! This was so much fun for me and I can look back and see how far my photography has come this year.  Mr. Fantastic gave me a new lens for Christmas and it is an exclusively manual lens so I am really looking forward to mastering that one next year.

82. March 22, 2012. Kitchen Sink. You can barely see the sink, but I had trouble because I should have closed the blinds and I didn't. Photo was taken with my SLR and edited in Photoshop.
81. March 21, 2012. Delicious. Eating an Italian Feast with the family. We had to split this among all of us because it was so much food! But it truly was delicious. Taken with my Rebel T2i, cropped and edited in Photoshop.
80. March 20, 2012. Today's prompt was Before/After, but I could come up with nothing, so I snapped this photo when I met Mr. Fantastic down by his office and saw the tram.  Taken with my SLR an cropped in iPhoto.
79. March 19, 2012. Funny. This is a clown fish, they're funny, right? RIGHT? I took this photo with my SLR at the Aquarium.  We went last week with one of my friends and her kids and the kids were badgering me to go back. It was much nicer today with no crowds and I was able to photograph much better. This was taken in Manual mode no edit.
78. March 18, 2012. A Corner of Your Home. Taken early in the morning with my SLR in Manual Mode. Straightened in iPhoto, no other edit.
77. March 17, 2012. Green.  Several of us girls have our cowboy hats for St. Patrick's Day, but my friend, Shannon, has a GREEN hat! I love it.  I took this photo with my Rebel T2i in Program mode while we were on one of the floats during the parade on Greenville Ave. Cropped in iPhoto, no other edit.
76. March 16, 2012. Sunglasses.  I took this photo in the car on our way to watch the NCAA Tournament.  Taken with my iPhone, edited with Instagram.
75. March 15, 2012. Car. I took this photo of the car in the garage with my iPhone. Edited with app called Camera+.
74. March 14, 2012. Clouds.  I am obsessed with clouds.  I have no idea why I love taking pictures of them, but I do and I was so, so excited that we had great clouds for this prompt! Taken with my SLR camera in Manual mode. No edits other than cropping.
73. March 13, 2012. A Sign.  This was the best sign I found that Spring came to Texas early. I took this very early in the morning after I took the little one to school. Taken with my Rebel T2i in Program mode. No edit.
72. March 12, 2012. A Fork.  Today was the first time that I shot an object in full manual mode.  I had to take so many photos to get one good one, but I am so happy with how I finally figured out how to spot focus! Taken with my Rebel T2i in Manual mode and cropped in iPhoto.
71. March 11, 2012. Someone You Talked To Today.  Today was my dad's birthday and I got to talk to him.  My mom pulled out some albums to show me what a stud my dad used to be and I took my favorite photo and took a photo of it! Taken with my Rebel XS (I picked up the wrong camera!) and cropped in iPhoto.
70. March 10, 2012. Loud.  I had gotten used to not having a radio in my car and now that Mr. Fantastic bought me a new one with bluetooth, I jam out all the time and I sometimes hate to get to where I am going because a great new song just started.  Taken with my iPhone and filtered with a new app I found called picfx.
69. March 9, 2012. Red.  Last month I missed the prompt on shoes, so today I picked my red soles when I saw the prompt was red. I had just cleaned our bathroom and cleared out the counter so I decided to grab a few of my favorite Louboutin shoes and take a quick photo.  They are Bianca, Scissor Girl, Activa, Miss Boxe and Iowa. Taken with my SLR.  Cropped and added Vignette effect in iPhoto.
68. March 8, 2012. Window.  This is our bathroom window from outside.  Do you see that leaf? It's the start of a bird's nest! Last year, the two birds built a nest and laid an egg, but it was tiny and a wasp destroyed it.  I was very happy to see that they are trying again! Taken with my SLR, no edits other than cropping and straightening.
67. March 7, 2012. Something You Wore.  I honestly forgot all about taking photos.  It was a busy day and I didn't even update my blog today.  We were watching TV when I remembered and I grabbed my camera and took a photo of my bottom half.  Joe's Jeans and Sam Edelman flats.  I was elated when I was editing and I realized the rug was vacuumed. Taken with my SLR, lighting adjusted in photoshop because I overexposed the frame.
66.  March 6, 2012. 5PM. This was the only thing that was near me at 4:58 when I realized it was about to be 5PM! It's my coffee pot, and it's very, very dirty.  Sorry.  Taken with my SLR and edited in iPhoto.
65. March 5, 2012. A Smile.  Well, I failed.  We had an event at school and everyone was smiling, but I didn't get many pictures.  This one makes ME smile because I always say that our little one is a mini-me of my husband and even though this photo is craptastic because I was being sneaky behind them and they didn't slow down or even know I was taking it, it shows that my husband does in fact have a mini-me!  Cropped and Black and White effect added in iPhoto.
64. March 4, 2012. Bedside.  My side of the bed is always a huge mess, but my husband is a neat freak. He tosses out everything and there is just about nothing that he keeps close by.  This is his bedside (after I made the bed).  Taken with my dSLR.  No edits other than cropping.
63. March 3, 2012. A gift I received from my hubby! A new radio for my car. It has bluetooth so I can play my iTunes and it works with my phone.  Yay, Me! Taken with my iPhone and filtered with a new app called PicFX.
62. March 2, 2012. Fruit.  Taken at Wine Club with friends.  Just some Orange. Taken with my iPhone and filtered via Instagram.
61. March 1, 2012. Up.  I forgot until I was in bed. Luckily, the prompt was UP.  I know you think you saw this photo in January, but that was a still photo and this is an action shot.  Taken with my iPhone and filtered via Instagram.
WHOO! I made it through February, too! It's great because I worry that I will start to slack off, but the Instagram prompts really help on the days when I am not feeling very inspired.  Only 10 months left!

60. February 29, 2012: Something you are listening to.  This is a self-portrait by my iPhone. It was taken of my iPhone with my iPhone while I was listening to "I Will Always Love You" by The Cure which was our first dance at our wedding.  I love the song because Mr. Fantastic chose it.
59. February 28, 2012: Money. I like to collect currency.  My favorite coin the silver one in the middle row with the palm tree. It's from our honeymoon. Taken with my iPhone and filtered via Instagram.
58. February 27, 2012: The prompt was something I ate, but I took this photo when our kids discovered that we had a spider that was not only building webs, but was snacking on mosquito eaters in our laundry room.  This is was the last meal our spider had before I took the webs down and killed the spider. Taken with my SLR, no other edits except for cropping.
57. February 26, 2012: Night.  I took this after I'd settled in with my popcorn and wine to watch the Oscar's Red Carpet. Taken with my iPhone and filtered via Instagram.
56. February 25, 2102: Brunch. Everytime we have brunch with Morgan, our 10-year old orders a hot chocolate.  I loved the fatted calf the cream came in for our coffee at The Fatted Calf in Rockwall. Taken with my SLR, no other edit.
55. February 24, 2012: Baking.  I very rarely bake, but a friend sent me a link to this recipe that she found while reading her weekly blogs and then someone in my feed pinned it and I had to try it because our boys LOVE Mac & Cheese.  These are single serving Mac & Cheese cupcakes. Taken with SLR, cropped and no other edit.
54. February 23, 2012: Love stamps I bought to mail out the invites for the shower we are hosting for our friends' wedding.  I heart these! Taken with my iPhone; filtered with Instagram.
53. February 22, 2012: Favorite photo of you.  This is another old photo of me and Mr. Fantastic. It was taken during our engagement photos and I love it because even though you can't see our faces head on, I can feel the happiness coming from this photo.  It makes me feel exactly the way I feel when he pulls me in close to him. Photo was taken by our photographer at JET-Events Photography and I filtered it with Instagram.
52. February 21, 2012:  My nails. I never do my own manicures because I always end up moving too early and ruining them. Plus my right hand never looks as good as my left.  But I did it today because I loved this color by Zoya. Taken with my SLR, no edit.
51. February 20, 2012: Something you hate to do.  Going to bed alone when my husband is out of town.  I realized when I updated these, that I mixed up my days again and some of these are out of order, but I AM using the prompts!
50. February 19, 2012: Drinks.  Again this was the prompt for the 18th, but I didn't get to it until very late and it was actually early on the 19th.  I didn't realize we had so many bottles laying around our house! I took one with my iPhone for Instagram, but took this one with my SLR.  No edit.
49. February 18, 2012: Our teenager is in band and he had his solo competition this day.  I took this photo as he walked away to take his turn.  We are so proud of him because he is the most uncompetitive person we know.  To even try to compete demonstrates so much growth for him.  I feel like this photo captured both the uncertainty and determination in his step. Taken with my SLR (2Ti) no editing other than cropping.
48. February 17, 2012: Something new.  This was the prompt for the 16th, but I didn't take the photos till the next day. I picked up a couple of tops to feed my new neon craving and I received my T by Alexander Wang tube dress/skirt c/o ShopBop.  I am undecided about the neon tops, they don't feel like me.  Taken with my T2i/no editing.
47. February 16, 2012: Out shopping for invitations for a wedding shower we are hosting.  Michael's was completely sold out of ribbon.  Seriously? Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram.
46. February 15, 2012: Late Delivery.  These were supposed to arrive on Monday (before the hubby went out of town) but didn't come in until the day after Valentine's Day.  Everything is so soft and pretty that I am totally over the delivery date.  Taken with my NEW Rebel T2i that was my husband's gift to me for Valentine's Day!
45. February 14, 2012: Heart.  My husband was out of town for Valentine's Day so I took a photo of my keychain because it has two hearts on it.  The keychain was made by one of our cousins for my sister's 15th birthday celebration almost 3 years ago.  Perfect for my girly tastes.  Taken with Rebel XS SLR and edited in iPhoto/Blur Edge.
44. February 13, 2012: Blue.  It took advantage of the fact that my Valentine's Day gift for Mr. Fantastic was blue to photograph it quickly as I was wrapping it. Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram.
43. February 12, 2012: I didn't follow the prompt, but we are looking to sell our house and I took this photo when I was trying to explain to my husband that I don't like these sconces out front.  Taken with my SLR.
42. February 11, 2012: Makes Me Happy.  Today we were supposed to post something that makes us happy.  I choose this photo from our honeymoon.  Mr. Fantastic took me away to the Maldives and it was the most amazing and romantic time we've ever spent together.  We even saw a baby shark while snorkeling! Taken with Rebel XS in 2010 and filtered with Instagram/Inkwell.
41. February 10, 2012: Front Door.  I switched days again, but I liked it because I wasn't home until late on the 9th, so this worked out for me.  Photo was taken with Rebel XS and edited in iPhoto/Color Fade Effect.
40. February 9, 2012: Second in my series of transpositions, today was supposed to be the front door and I thought it was the self-portrait.  I took this after I finished packing for my flight back home. I took this photo with my Rebel XS SLR and I edited in iPhoto.
39. February 8, 2012: Button.  Of course, the day I am supposed to photo a button, I wasn't wearing one!  I took this photo of the zipper pull on my sweater at the IFB Conference. Taken with my iPhone and filtered via Instagram/Valencia.
38. February 7, 2012: Sun. I transposed several days this month and this was the first one.  The photo for today was supposed to be a button, but I took the sun photo instead.  This is the sun over New York  taken from the plane before we landed. Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Earlybird.
37. February 6, 2012: Dinner.  I was prepping for my trip to New York City and almost missed dinner. I managed to snag this photo quickly before getting back to packing.  Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram.
36. February 5, 2012: 10AM. Super Bowl Sunday was also the launch date for the Jason Wu for Target Collection.  I didn't brave the crowds, but still managed to find the straw and canvas clutch I wanted when I got there at 10AM. Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram.
35. February 4, 2012: Stranger.  Some friends invited us to a Dallas Stars game.  Of course the Stars beat the Wild 2-1 in an OT Shootout, but this guy cracked us all up.  Taken with my Rebel XS and edited in iPhoto.
34. February 3, 2012: Hands.  I snapped this quick photo on our (rare, but becoming normal) morning run to Starbucks.  I noticed he was holding my hand in his lap and quickly snapped it right before he took his hand away. Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Lo-fi.
33. February 2, 2012: Words.  I know it seems very cheesy and Valentines-y, but I love this.  I always tell my husband that he makes my heart happy so I was very smug and pleased with myself when I found this at Marshall's.  He was not so smug OR pleased when I hung it in our guest bathroom! Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Inkwell.
32. February 1, 2012: Your View.  This was my view at the end of the day when I realized I still hadn't taken my photo.  Updating my blog while watching Law & Order: SVU. Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Valencia.

January was HARD! I didn't realize how difficult it would be to take a photo every.single.day!  I found it difficult to come up with inspiration and I kept seeing the #janphotoaday tag on instagram, so I decided to try it for February so that I had at least a prompt to try something each day.  While there will be many more instagram photos for February as a result, I hope that it will be easier for me to keep up and have some different shots.

31. January 31, 2012. We've really had amazing weather in the metroplex all week.  The view was unbelievable and I wish this had been the view for February! Taken with my iPhone, edited in photoshop. Lomo effect.
30. January 30, 2012: Reading Material.  My husband hates that I hoard magazines.  I was trying to read the January editions to toss them, but I already received the February ones, too! Taken with iPhone and filtered via Instagram/Hudson.
29.  January 29, 2012. A walk in the Park.  My husband and I found a new trail recently and we are trying to stick to at least walking while it is still too cold for our usual walks for me and runs for him. Taken with my SLR.
28. January 28, 2012: My sister was in town to take the Fabric Workshop with Shirin Askari at the Dallas Museum of Art.  This is her threading her sewing machine.
27. January 27, 2012: Out shopping, found jeans on sale, yay! Taken w/iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Hudson.
26.  January 26, 2012: This is what happens when you forget that you left a bottle of wine in the freezer. Photo taken w/iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Earlybird.
25.  January 25, 2012: Cutest Thank You note I've gotten in a long time! Photo taken with SLR, used boost color effect in iPhoto editing.
24. January 24, 2012: My favorite lunch when I don't want to eat too heavily. Taken with iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Earlybird.
23. January 23, 2012: I am trying to get back in the habit of walking, but I wanted to start slow so I took my camera.  I used the Boost Color feature on my MacBook to edit this photo.
22. January 22, 2012: Family Brunch.  This place is now banned for terrible customer service and confrontational staff.
21. January 21, 2012: I thought it was unusual that it's the middle of January and there were so many birds flying South for the winter.  Isn't it a tad late for that? Taken with my iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Lo-fi.
20. January 20, 2012: This was a covert photo I took during our visit to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit.  It is a trashbag dress with tin can cuffs, an ashtray purse, and a statement necklace made of the ends of the tin can ends.  I'm telling you that the man is a creative genius!
19.  January 19, 2012: All that wine necessitated a soothing tea.  This is blooming white tea by Teavana.
18. January 18, 2012: Wine Club corks.  I don't think we are alcoholics, I think there are just a large number of us!  This is a pretty sight, huh?
17. January 17, 2012: Out shopping...it's not even Valentine's Day yet and I am already shopping for St. Patrick's Day!
16. January 16, 2012: My MacBook bluescreened on me! I even had time to find my phone and open the camera to snap a photo! :( The reason I bought a MacBook was so that this wouldn't happen. Photo taken via iPhone and filtered with Instagram/Earlybird.
15. January 15, 2012: We attended our friend's engagement party and they had this bouquet of Stargazer Lillies.  These were our wedding flowers! <3
14. January 14, 2012: My favorite makeup brushes.
13. January 13, 2012: This is what you get when you allow the kids to decorate dad's birthday cake.  Patriotic much?
12. January 12, 2012: Mr. F's Birthday, he got a musical extravaganza as his present.  Our teenager's first tuxedo. tear.
11. January 11, 2012: I found these on eBay to match my new necklace.
10. January 10, 2012: I feel like I might have earned this, too!
9.  January 9, 2012: My favorite sight before I close my eyes each night. Can you tell that I have trouble remembering I am supposed to be taking photos?  Two of the first 10 were taken AFTER I was in bed and done for the night.  For you math geniuses, that is 20%. :(
8.  January 8, 2012: My first cup of joe this morning. If you look closely, you can see some steam. :)
7. January 7, 2012: Playing with the manual settings on my SLR.  I started a cork collection recently and this photo is of my modest accomplishment so far. I didn't edit this photo in any way other than to crop it and resize it.
6. January 6, 2012: New brushes for my newest arts & crafts project.
5. January 5, 2012: I shopped the after Christmas sales (maybe more than I should have) and this is one of two necklaces I bought at Nordstrom Rack.
4. January 4, 2012: This was my birthday present from my mother-in-law.  I am working on styling it for an upcoming contest and of course a post!  I adore this necklace, it is hands down my new favorite!
3. January 3, 2012: This was our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  Story is too long to get into it now, but I took this photo this morning before I starting taking the tree down. I took this photo with my iPhone and used the photography app called Genius to edit it.  This is the Lomo filter.
2. January 2, 2012: I am not going to lie and pretend this was some form of art.  I forgot about the photo until I was about to fall asleep.  I took this with my iPhone and used the app Infinicam to select the black and white filter.  It now looks way better than it did last night.
1. January 1, 2012: Taken via Instagram right after midnight. I love kissing this man.  It's the best.
