Rainy Morning Date

My husband has been working non-stop for the last several months. As his product is getting ready to launch, his days get longer and longer.  I had been complaining that we aren't spending any time together lately so he looked at his schedule and invited me out for coffee this week.  We woke up early, I threw on some leggings and my trusty cape-scarf and off we went into the rain to catch up over a cup of coffee and a tart before I walked him to the train station to see him off to work.  I miss having lazy mornings with him, but I am really proud of how hard he works. I am so excited about the coming holidays and getting to spend time with him and our families.  The picture quality isn't very great because I wasn't meaning to take pictures. We took these with my phone in the early morning.

Mixing Patterns: Plaid & Stripes

J. Crew has now been at Nordstrom for 6 weeks and their selection just gets better and better. I love having the option of buying J. Crew at Nordstrom and being able to earn points on my Nordstrom card. Plus, it is easier for me to picture each garment with other items in my wardrobe when Nordstrom has so many options.  As the weather cools, I've been looking for layering pieces and was thrilled to find this tissue turtleneck to use as a base for colder weather outfits. It is not a secret that I am obsessed with this plaid pattern and I can always use another button-down to wear to work under a cute sweater or blazer or even on its own with slacks.  In this case, I chose to mix my patterns and layer the plaid over the stripes. My sister said I am not to buy any more stripes, but I really can't seem to stop myself!

Nobody Takes The Train Anymore

I am now back from my weekend trip to Texas.  It was so much fun to see my friends and while the trip ended on a bit of a sour note, I truly wouldn't trade the experience for anything else. Our beautiful hostess made dinner for those of us who got there late on Friday and her cooking is truly a treat for everyone.  She also organized a train ride for Saturday to a nearby town and we had a great Mexican lunch together before heading back to our rendevouz point to get ready for a Ghost Walk that night. She was such a great hostess and while it was not in the best of circumstances, I was grateful to get to spend Sunday with her.  I wore this outfit to meet up for breakfast with my cousin and her daughters  and the train ride and lunch.  It was supposed to be a warm 82 degrees, but it was much cooler than that early in the morning and then the train was colder than we anticipated, too. Fortunately, I had my new favorite cape-scarf and I just threw it on over my cute dress and sneakers.

TGI Friday!

I am so excited because I will be flying to Texas by the time you read this. One of my best friends planned a girlfriends weekend outside of Austin and I haven't seen her since I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area.  She used to be one of our primary winers and when she suggested a girlfriend weekend, I jumped on the idea because several of my other winers will be there, too and I've missed them!  This is my airport outfit for the day. It's super comfy and of course, when else can I wear my new favorite graphic tee? TGI Friday!!!

Finally Fall

Just a few short days ago I was boasting of still wearing minis and sandals and the last few days have made a big talker out of me.  Not only are we finally getting some rain, it seems Fall has finally made an appearance!  It seems I got my fall jacket in just in time.  I bundled up for work earlier this week in this black cowl-neck sweater dress that seems to be my favorite each season (worn before here and here with leggings) and my trusty Field Mechanic Jacket from J. Crew.  Getting dressed is so easy for me these days!

Rain!

We might finally be moving in the right direction over here. We had a gorgeous rainy day yesterday and I was thrilled to finally pull out my Hunter boots.  We are expecting more rain tonight, but I was glad it held off all morning while I was out for my run. I was happy to hear that it should continue for a few days.  I'm glad to finally be getting closer to sweater weather.  Nothing new here, just a bit of a recycle of previous outfits.  Hope everyone else is staying dry!

October Heat Wave

It's hard to believe that we are still in shorts and t-shirts, but more so because I am normally always cold here in the Bay Area.  After taking 2 months "off" from my running training, I am getting back to it now to get ready for the Holiday eating season. :) I am really excited because my family is coming to visit us and while both my sister and my dad have been guests in our home, this will be my mom's first time in San Francisco and I am looking forward to showing her all our favorite spots!

Lace and Buffalo? Check.

I found this really cute buffalo check skirt from Topshop recently and I am really looking forward to wearing it this fall and winter with a sweater, tights, and boots. But since this weekend was almost Texas hot here in the bay, I paired it with this lace tee and sandals that I found in my closet to go have lunch in town with my guys.  My husband even offered to let me shop around a bit, but I admit that I couldn't get into sweater shopping with the heat outside.  Almost all the stores in town had some sort of Columbus Day sale and everyone has rolled out their fall collections, but just the thought of having to carry a bag home was enough to put me off.  I did manage to secure a future invitation to shop later when I get cold.  We instead all went to the pharmacy and got our flu shots out of the way.  I completely forgot last year and it felt like we got sick repeatedly. When I suggested flu shots, both my husband and our kid enthusiastically jumped in.  We hope to reduce our sick days significantly this season.

Every Shade of Grey

I was thrilled when the weather feel on Monday and it even RAINED a bit! I worked part of the day and then headed over to my husband's office to steal him away for lunch.  It has been so great to pull out my boots for a couple of days in a row and I took advantage because I know that it isn't going to last at all.  We are already heading back into the high 70's and low 80's this weekend, so everyone was out enjoying the 50's and low 60's earlier this week.  For the second post in a row, I don't have anything new and I am, in fact, digging deep into my closet to pull out pieces I've owned for quite a while. I love this pleated Nanette Lepore skirt and no matter how much time passes, I always receive numerous compliments on it every single time I wear it.

Cashmere and Leopard

Yesterday we finally woke up to some chilly weather and we met up with friends to eat brunch before changing for the Cowboys' game at Levi's Stadium.  We really miss our Texas friends and it was so great to get together and then head over to cheer for our beloved Dallas Cowboys!  While our place only got up to the mid-60's, it was much warmer down in Santa Clara at the game and we had a great day cheering our Cowboys to victory.  Wearing this cashmere sweater that I've had for a few years made me realize that I need to update my cashmere as this one is pilling pretty badly now.  But it still kept me warm at breakfast and I wished I had it close when we were leaving dinner in the evening chill. Too bad I wasn't allowed to wear red anywhere near Levi's Stadium. Maybe I will buy a new one in blue?  In any case, I am thrilled with the cooler weather and I am not looking forward to it heating back up next weekend.
