It's Getting Hottt in Here

Texas doesn't ever get the memo that Fall is coming until about October, sometimes November.  It was a total surprise that the last few days have been rainy and cool in the mid-80's.  All of that is over now and we are back to high's in low 90's until Sunday.  My calendar says Sunday is the first day of fall, but  I don't think Texas cares.  Anyhow, last week, Mr. Fantastic and I took the kids to a BBQ Competition at Bass Pro in Grapevine.

I bought these shorts over the summer after both Wendy and Khatu styled them during the launch of the Trina Turk for Banana Republic collection. I wore them during our trip to Kingston and I've had them on repeat all summer.  For the BBQ, I took a cue from Jean to mix them with this lemongrass top.  The Cole Haan sandals are my go to shoes in the summer and I am definitely seeing signs of wear after two consecutive summers with them.

It was hot, but the BBQ was delicious and it gave us a chance to spend the day with both the kids and our friends with kids.  These stuffed jalapenos were so, so good! They were stuffed with spinach and cheese and grilled.  Of course, our youngest loved the shaved ice!
