I'm on a Boat! Tour around the San Pedro Marina

After LuckyFABB, Mr. Fantastic picked me up at the SLS Hotel and we moved to San Marina Del Rey for the weekend.  We have friends and family in the Los Angeles area and we were so thrilled when everyone made time for us! Saturday morning, we met one of my friends from high school and her husband along with their gorgeous baby girl for breakfast at Jack & Jill's in Beverly Hills.  I was thrilled to finally get to meet her husband and her baby because we hadn't seen each other in years and we were married about a month apart back in 2009!

Being from Texas, when we go on a boat, it's usually on a lake and it's hot so we wear shorts and a tank top.  That was a terrible move on my part because it was freezing when we got out on the ocean looking for whales! But back to the boat ride, my husband told me he arranged a boat tour on a private boat out in San Pedro for Saturday morning, so I planned an early breakfast with my friend and I was excited to spend some time with my husband just the two of us. I was so happy when we arrived in San Pedro and it turned out that our hosts were two of our dear friends who moved from Dallas to California this past year! They took us out on their boat along with the gentleman that gave our host sailing lessons and their adorable pup!  They even let my husband be the captain and drive the boat a little and I got to be his first mate! We didn't see any whales, even though several gray whales and even a blue one had been spotted just the day before.  It was so much fun to drive around the harbor, I kept telling everyone that the movie Gone in 60 seconds was filmed there, but I can't prove it so no one believed me.  We also saw the Sea Launch, the Queen Mary and the USS Iowa, which is harbored at the Port of Los Angeles.

The last photo was taken at the San Pedro Fish Market where the seals hang out to feed. I loved seeing them and listening to them whine when they realized we had no food for them.

Do you like to sail? Lake or Ocean? What do you wear to stay cool on land and keep warm at sea?

  1. Looks like fun! I usually avoid small boats because I get so motion sick. It's funny that I love cruises so much, but the bigger boat is fine!

    1. I think at one point we were being tossed around a bit, but overall it was a great ride and we tried to stay close enough to the harbor to not have too many waves to deal with. I LOVE cruises, too! I am really sad about all the problems Carnival is having because I've loved the cruises I've taken with them!

  2. I grew up on the coast, but our waters are much warmer than CA. Shorts, white tee or tank with a suit underneath, boat shoes, hat, & sunscreen! Anorak on hand. Looks like a great weekend!
