Pebble Beach Getaway

Our last day down in Monterey/Carmel by the Sea was my favorite. We slept in, and then I packed and got ready while my husband went for a run around Monterey.  After we checked out of our hotel, we drove to the 17-Mile Drive gate at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 68.  I honestly wasn't expecting much. My husband had told me that he wanted to check out Pebble Beach and I really thought it was just a golf course. I talked to my dad that morning and told him we were going down there and he was really excited. He told me about his visit there and how gorgeous the views were between the ocean and the mountains. Still, I was in no way prepared for the magnificent views that awaited us.

We drove along and stopped every once in a while. The view of the Restless Sea was stunning. We stopped to try to get a selfie to send the family for Easter and we ended up laughing because the wind was crazy and my hair was completely wild and if it wasn't in my face, it was in my husband's face. We eventually managed a few great pics. Then we moved on and stopped again at the Lone Cypress. Again, we were so awed by the views of the waves crashing on the rocks.  We ended up at The Lodge at Pebble Beach and grabbed some coffees before heading right out to the lawn by the 18th hole.  I am not a golf aficionado by any means, but I immediately thought a round of golf at Pebble Beach would be a fantastic Father's Day gift for my father-in-law from his sons. My husband immediately shut that down. He said they would hack up that course so badly, they would likely be invited to leave.  In any case, we HAVE to take him down to check it out on their next visit.

We exited the 17-Mile Drive in Carmel and drove right by the Carmel Mission. It looked very old and beautiful and our next trip there, will definitely merit an exclusive trip to the Mission.  We headed farther south towards the Bixby Bridge, which I was excited about seeing.  I tried to get some photos of the bridge when we pulled up, but it wasn't until we were driving back and we pulled over that I was able to get BOTH the bridge and the ocean in the same frame.

My favorite day by far. I can't wait to have visitors to take down for a visit!
