My Prabal Gurung for Target Picks

Target launched their collaboration with Prabal Gurung today and as has now become my normal routine, I did not wake up early or wait outside the store to be the first one in.  Thanks to Lucky Magazine, I'd gotten a peek at the collection last week and I loved the Nolita print that was being used for this collection.
I headed to Target around noon and went straight for the shoe department because I was really hoping to pick up the red wedges.  They reminded me of the Sam Edelman Sophie Sandals that Kimmie from Blue Paper Lanterns got last year.  Now that I look at these, they are exact dupes of those in different colorways.  For $29.99, I had to buy them.
Initially I thought I wanted the black lace round clutch, but once I held it next to the box clutch I realized that I really preferred the shape of the box one and the unique print made it an easy choice for me.  I am still looking for a black lace clutch.  I thought the Jason Wu for Target one was too big for a clutch and if the Prabal Gurung for Target lace clutch had been the box clutch, I definitely would have bought it instead.  So my search continues.
These are some of the other items I liked from this collection, and really wanted to get, but I didn't want to have to explain it to Mr. Fantastic or you at the end of the month.  The blue leather jacket was gorgeous! But, I need a black leather jacket and I can't figure out how to need a blue leather one.  The sweater was my favorite of the clothing picks, I loved the color and I could definitely see myself wearing it with at least three different items in my closet, but they didn't have it in my size.  The shorts would be perfect for our cruise next summer, but I already have several printed shorts from my summer shopping last year.  The necklace was sold out, but I think it would be a great and simple layering piece and I love the pointy flats in all three colorways.

Did you check out the Prabal Gurung for Target collection? What did you like? What did you buy?

  1. I went to Target today around noon in hopes of finding the blazer from the collection, but I couldn't find it. The clutch and those shoes are adorable for you though! Can't wait to see how you wear it :)

    1. Hi Justine, they usually start advertising the collections about a month or so before launch. Once they release the designer's name I just google it and find that major publications like the New York Times or sometimes magazines get the entire preview and they publish everything including photos of the items and price points.

It makes it easy to see if it's worth it or not. I learned the hard way that you can't expect it to last any longer than you would expect any other Target item to last, but the designs are sometimes cute. The Christmas collaboration with Neiman Marcus was a disaster because of the price point ($99 for a toddler's dress! $75 for a scarf!) but they did a great job with this collection. The shoes I wanted were only $29.99 and even the other clothing items were reasonable. I hope that helps!

  5. Thank you! The Targets by my house are still fairly well-stocked. I almost picked up another pair of shoes a week after launch, but contained myself.
