Morgan: The Dog Ate My Yoga Pants

The jeans that fit last week don't fit this week. Now I realize the horror that pregnant women everywhere feel when they realize that they finally have to buy maternity pants. I was putting together an outfit on Wednesday that involved a pair of skinny jeans that are really more like jeggings (I really hate that word) and the waist was a bit too snug for comfort. I tried my tried and true boot cut jeans as seen in this post, only to realize I could barely get them buttoned. I was running late for class and I realized I would have to wear my black yoga pants, again, since they are the only things that seem to fit anymore.

You can imagine my horror when I picked them up off the floor (don't act like you haven't ever done this) and realized that they were almost in two pieces because the dog had eaten through them. If you've ever had a little dog, especially a girl dog, then you already understand why she did this. Apparently this is even more common when you are pregnant, but that doesn't make it any less gross. I was so upset that I almost cried. Hormones and crotchless yoga pants will do that do you.

So off to the stores I went yesterday to find something I could wear to go along with my growing belly. My first stop was to Old Navy to buy two new pairs of their black yoga pants and to try on a pair of maternity jeans. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I had gone down a size in maternity jeans. Even though I'm five months pregnant, I have only gained three pounds so I must be getting smaller somewhere to compensate.  I just loved these jeans and how comfortable they were!

I also found this amazing tank dress online that I am ordering. I can't wait for it to come in because it looks so cute and comfy! I can't wait to wear it with a pair of sandals, a long necklace and a cropped denim jacket.

Then I went to Target to see what sort of goodies I could find and I found this adorable green and navy color blocked dress by Liz Lange maternity collection. I love the color block trend and I navy seems to be popping up all over the place now so I'm excited to add this to my wardrobe. The only question really is what type of shoes should I wear? I'm thinking nude wedges but what do you think?
And in keeping with the color-blocked trend, I found this great Liz Lange maxi dress. I think the way the colors run down the front really adds length and height, especially when paired with wedge sandals.

I don't want to spend a fortune on maternity clothes but I certainly don't want to spend a penny if it isn't cute and on-trend. Even before I was pregnant, I always felt that dresses were more flattering and comfortable when I was having a "fat day" and apparently I'll be having a lot of those in the next few months. So how am I doing so far? What are your go-to pieces for when things don't fit right anymore?

  1. I love all the dresses! My favorite is the last one (the Liz Lange) and I am happy that you found a great pair of jeans to take you through the second half of your preggo days!

The jeans are amazing and the green dress is so cute! But the long color blocked dress did not fit my boobs so I ended up not getting it :(

Tell me what you think, but be nice! You catch more flies with sugar than spice!
